Emergency funds for socially disadvantaged families
The aim is to provide unbureaucratic, short-term support to families or individuals living in Baden-Baden, particularly those with a migration background or who have had to flee their home country and who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in acute financial difficulty.
The aim is to provide unbureaucratic, short-term support to families or individuals living in Baden-Baden, particularly those with a migration background or who have had to flee their home country and who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in acute financial difficulty. The Briegelacker district centre provides families with a refugee or migrant background with general advice, along with family education support services.
The employees are often confronted with families in financial distress, caused by a sudden increase in costs. This could be a broken washing machine, or high payments for reading glasses or medication. The cost of moving house or providing children with pocket money for a class trip can become a serious burden for families on a low income. Birthday presents for classmates or cousins also chip away at an already tight budget. Older people with a migrant background who live alone are increasingly affected by poverty and cannot afford much more than the basics. This often means no heavy coat or good shoes.
With prices generally on the rise, there will be even more people experiencing financial difficulty in the future. State support often only covers basic needs. As a result, families who are less well off, particularly children and young people, will be largely restricted in how they can participate in society. Fast, unbureaucratic assistance is often very effective here and is a great help to those who need it.
The Redel Foundation is supporting this project with €30,000.
