Supporting the “AusWegweiser” volunteer project
The “AusWegweiser” project (Showing the way) supports young people and adults around the age of 21 who are living in temporary accommodation and remain there for almost eight months on average.
The project is also intended for young people who are homeless and often hard to reach because they have slipped through the net of the welfare system. These people often only make themselves known to the youth welfare office again when it all becomes too much. The pandemic saw this situation get even worse.
AusWegweiser places great emphasis on individual case work, as each case is different. The participants receive the help they need to get back on their feet and lead independent, stable lives. It is often everyday challenges, especially involving the social systems, that can block any progress as these young people lack the tools or perspective to deal with them.
To achieve the goal of a “school graduation” or “first proper job”, months of support and preparation are often required in order to reach this point and make it possible.
The Redel Foundation is supporting this project with €12,000.
